Why Us? A Few Words About Dried Dog Treats.

Why Us? A Few Words About Dried Dog Treats.

Irrespective of breed and age, dogs remain mans faithful and loving companions. To guarantee our pet all the best we provide them with a balanced diet, an appropriate dog bed and the necessary veterinary treatment.

If you want to provide your four-legged friend with treats in line with a diet that’s rich in micronutrients and macronutrients, it is undoubtedly worth supplying yourself with natural chew treats.

Why choose natural chew treats?

The range of dog treats available on the market is extraordinarily broad, so making a decision on the best flavour to choose often proves difficult. When choosing treats for dogs, first of all its worth paying attention to their composition. Is a highly processed product what we want to give to our dog? Is a strongly-smelling treat full of chemical components a good choice?

Choosing natural chew treats will allow us to supplement a pets diet without filling its body with artificial substances, higher doses of which can prove to be harmful.

In addition, a wide range of chew treats will make it easier for us to find an appropriate product regardless of a dogs mass, age or size.

The purchase of a natural chew treat, whether for a big or a tiny dog, is an excellent choice.

Appropriately matched treats are also available for puppies and older dogs. When matching the size of a chew treat, it is worth bearing in mind that too big a chew treat can be a threat to the delicate jaws of smaller doggies, while a treat that’s too small will be devoured by a robust Labrador within a few seconds.

The best natural chew treats for a dog

There is no reason to buy colourful cookies for dogs that are filled to capacity with corn and dyes, since the market offers so many natural alternatives!

We know that everybody likes to eat a hamburger from time to time. However, how does it influence our health? The same applies to our pets.

How about giving your dog natural dried treats instead?

For example:

  • dried meat (beef, veal, lamb, rabbit, poultry etc.) - most often in the form of small pieces; tasty and ideal as a reward
  • fillets (chicken, goose, turkey, fish) - a valuable source of protein
  • liver* (beef, rabbit, veal, lamb etc.) - aromatic and crispy
  • whole fish* (brown bullhead, sprats) - low-calorie and contain valuable omega acids
  • beef tripe* - recommended for dogs with digestive problems
  • beef lungs* - crispy and easy to chew, even for older dogs
  • beef hearts* - rich in protein and mineral components including iron
  • beef tendons - very tough so they last for longer
  • rabbit ears - light with a delicate structure
  • chicken feet - low-calorie and help to maintain proper oral hygiene
  • deer antlers - durable and tough for long hours of fun
  • ears (pig, beef, deer) – beneficial to joints and cartilage due to high collagen content
  • deer leg - a durable and tough treat
  • dried skin* (e.g. of a deer) - low-calorie and low in fat

*treats marked with an asterisk are strongly aromatic and may not appeal to the owner - in a word, they simply stink :-)

Of course, all the products listed above are available in our shop.

How to choose an appropriate chew treat

A variety of chew treats in different shapes and sizes allows us to match a treat that’s appropriate for our dogs age and size. For example, you will find treats among our range that will be appropriate for small and big dogs. Beef and pork chew treats are excellent for Rottweilers or Labradors who will happily munch on a slightly bigger snack.

However, for Yorkies and Shih Tzus, it is recommended to choose smaller products such as chicken feet, pork tails or pork intestines.

Lets remember that when choosing a chew treat we should go by a dogs mass and age. If our pet is overweight, it is better to choose a chew treat with low fat content (e.g. lungs or hearts) than heavy and more calorific ones.

For small puppies, go for calcium-rich choices that are not too tough, so they will not damage their teeth while they are still delicate.

Why must a dog chew?

Gnawing is a primary and natural need of dogs. In the pyramid of a dog’s needs, gnawing and chewing form its foundation alongside eating, drinking water, breathing etc.

Sounds unlikely? If so, look at the human needs pyramid. At the very bottom, next to eating and breathing, is ‘lack of tension.’

As human beings, we can de-stress by watching television or listening to music. And dogs? They relieve tension and stress by chewing.

Contrary to appearances, a dog can have a very stressful life. It all depends on a dogs character and its past experiences.

A lot of dogs react with stress to being left alone at home, visiting guests (strangers, large groups), conditioning treatments, during transport and so on. In such situations, a chew treat can soothe and quieten our dog.

Chew treats are an excellent way for them to avoid boredom. If you dont have time to play with a dog or go for an active walk, give it a chew treat!

A treat will also draw its attention from gnawing other things. If your doggy gnaws slippers, pillows, carpets or other inappropriate things, the likelihood is that its chewing needs are unsatisfied!

This is most significant for young dogs, who actually have an increased need to gnaw. Its a form of play for them, but primarily it relieves itching and pain while their teeth are developing.

So, ease your dogs suffering and give it a chew treat! (It will benefit you too, because how many times a month can you buy new slippers?)

Chew treats constitute a relaxing break in training. In particular, when training in a group a dog has so many new buddies around that it can struggle to focus its attention during a break.

Giving it an ordinary treat will not arouse its interest. A much better solution is a chew treat that catches its attention with its smell.

Treats and chew toys are a valuable source of valuable nutrients - especially if they are natural, high in quality and rich in protein and minerals.

Chewing influences good dental and gum health. It also reduces tartar!

It’s important to commit to the idea that gnawing and chewing are virtually as important to a dog as eating or breathing. Maybe it sounds like an exaggeration, but if we don’t remember this a dog could end up with nothing to gnaw and their needs will go unmet.

Are low prices worth the risk?

The matter of price is often the most important criterion for us when choosing chew treats.

We would warn against buying natural chew treats that are significantly below market prices. They can be like playing Russian Roulette - and your dogs health or even life could be at risk.

It is recommended to choose chew treats made by European manufacturers – such as ours :-)

The ingredients originate from approved slaughterhouses, use high quality meat, are controlled by district veterinary surgeons, are subject to detailed examinations and are healthy and safe.

IMPORTANT

Providing chew treats for a dog shouldn’t be a substitute for other events and activities, such as an adequate number of walks or teaching them new skills. Our dogs spend up to a dozen or so minutes a day gnawing at dried chew treats, slowly chewing Kongs or crunching carrots.

It is a worthy addition to a dog’s daily schedule, and you will see with your own eyes how such simple everyday activities keep dogs healthy and entertained.
